Just
a dog leading a dog's life
by George Glasser
Flash Attack - Sam says - "It's a dog's life!
Look, there, at that mangy little bastard mongrel trotting on down the street
He don't care nothing about nothing - he just don't care
Just an arrogant mangy bastard eating out of trash cans
Pissing wherever he pleases
Eating flotsam and jetsam off the street
An arrogant little bastard just trotting along without a care
He ain't too particular about what he eats
Sniffing a half-eaten burger
Someone tossed down on the street
He ain't too particular where he sleeps
He ain't too particular about the company he keeps
He ain't like the winos stumbling down the street
Or sitting over there under that tree
He don't beg for a nickel or a dime
He don't care nothing about swilling down cheap wine
The mangy little bastard
He just keeps trotting up and down the street
Sniffing this and that
Pissing here and there
Pissing on anything catching his fancy
He just don't care
He'd piss on Tony Blair's leg
He'd piss on George Bush's shoes
He don't make no distinction
It could be a lamppost, Mohamed Al Fayed or his chauffeur
He just don't care
Because he's just a dog leading a dog's life
He don't care nothing about poets - living or dead
He don't care nothing about Chomsky's philosophy or his political bent
He don't care nothing about watching the six-o-clock news
Newspapers are of no interest
That is, unless they're wrapped around food
Arrogant little bastard sniffing around most everything he sees
Just trotting up and down the street
Lifting his leg and pissing on whatever he fancies
A mongrel sniffing around interesting mongrel type things
He don't care nothing about nothing
He could care less about what I think"
