Deco Girls

Art
Deco Girls was salvaged from a collection of photographs called
"Brothel Girls" someone gave me thinking it might
have some material I could use for another project. At first
glance, all I saw was deteriorating photographs done by bad
photographers that should have been relegated to the dust bin
of history. However, I hit on one image I liked and by chance,
that lead to the series of images below.
After
looking at literally thousands of photographs on the disk, I
found nine on the disk that I liked because to me, the girls,
although not professional or the 'ideal women' personified an
inherent feeling for the Art Deco era.
I proceeded
to extract the girls, clean-up the images as much as possible,
and then create backdrops that I felt were sympathetic to the
girls and the Art Deco period.
The one
girl I included who wasn't in the "Brothel Girls"
collection was the definitive 'Art Deco Girl,' Josephine Baker.
I hope
you enjoy looking at them, as I am absolutely sure they would
be thrilled to once again have someone's attention because that's
why they posed for the photographs eighty or ninety years ago.
